Ink Block Boston

Ink Block Boston

Located on the former Boston Herald site is the Ink Block, Boston’s newest “neighborhood”. Our clients decided to trade in their south end space for something more modern and exciting. We met them during construction and listened to their requests for window treatments with a natural and organic feel. Something with soft tones but maybe with an interesting texture. That led us to one of our lines of beautifully made woven wood shades. Made with different grasses and natural plant materials, we found a beautifully colored and textured shade that had the elements they were looking for. With such large southern facing windows, we also knew that these shades needed a cotton liner to hold back the glare and heat from the sun. To soften the glass and steel of the window frames, we shopped for and found a fantastic sheer from Duralee at the Boston Design Center. This soft, neutral fabric with it’s very contemporary horizontal stripe was a perfect compliment to the woven wood shades. To keep the look minimal with a finished look, we simply mounted them on boards to give them an almost floating appearance.
